Education, Experience, and Interest in Cybersecurity
I graduated with a BA in Sociology from the University of Memphis. After I realized that being a social worker didn’t pay very well, I started my long and interesting career in information technology and cybersecurity. My first real tech job was working as a Computer Operator in a data center for a pharmaceutical company. I didn’t have a lot of technical experience, but I was a quick learner and I had great mentors to help me. In fact, I learned so quickly that I found myself mentoring co-workers with more tenure. I
was able to use those skills in my next career as a technical trainer. A colleague convinced me to take the leap into technical training, which allowed me to develop a wide range of technical skills and earn multiple technical certifications.
One fun fact about yourself?
I inadvertently caused a Denial of Service attack on my university’s web servers while I was learning how to develop my first web site.
