    Instructor
    Rob Goelz

I actually started out as a teaching assistant with Cybrary back in 2019. I was drawn to the platform because it offered so much security training that I couldn’t find anywhere else. I really needed to get training on Security+ to obtain that certification, and becoming a TA allowed me access to the Cybrary platform. Eventually, I became a Sr. TA, and was able to guide, mentor, and onboard new teaching assistants. Later, I had an opportunity to become a quality assurance team member, ensuring that courses meet the standards of the Cybrary platform and will help Cybrary members learn and grow in their careers. When the opportunity came to become an instructor I jumped at the chance and was thrilled to be considered.

I have been working on the CompTIA Linux+ course, based on the new exam objectives - the XK0-004 exam. To say it has been a labor of love is an understatement. I have truly enjoyed working on this course and growing as an instructor. This Linux+ course is quite large, so we broke it into two parts. But this is because CompTIA Linux+ has been completely revamped and reimagined from what it was back when I originally took the exam in 2015. This course covers all that expanded ground. I made it a priority to map the lessons to the specific learning objectives on the CompTIA Linux+ exam blueprint. Students will also be provided with additional reference material and suggested reading should they wish to dig deeper into the content than what is strictly necessary for the exam.

As an instructor I’ve found the course content to be challenging and rewarding. It has helped reinforce my understanding, and the emerging concepts such as containers, Git, and Infrastructure as Code have been awesome to explore and explain. I hope Cybrarians enjoy this course as much as I have enjoyed creating it!
